Tthis week's feature was served in tiny plastic cups with tiny plastic spoons. One cup contained Raisin Bran with strawberries and the other Fruit Loops with strawberries. No coupons were offered.
The strawberries were very good.

Parade Grand Marshal to be Sentenced
Greensboro News/Reidsville Review reporter Taft Wireback (yes, that's his real name) is reporting former Reidsville Christmas parade Grand Marshal, and the owner of Rockingham County's now-defunct #1 tourist attraction Chinqua-Penn, Calvin Phelps is facing up to 43 years in prison when he is sentenced in September.
Phelps was convicted 15 months ago of dodging surcharges on cigarettes manufactured in his Mocksville plant.
Taft's Reidsville Review accounting of Phelp's adventure fails to mention Phelps was honored as the parade's Grand Marshal.

Ice Cream Shop for Rent
Below is an ad being run by "real estate agent" Terresia Scoble. It's obviously Dave Gerrell's old ice cream shop that's up for rent from the City of Reidsville. If you'd like to try starting a business that will eventually fail, contact Terresia or a member of the City Council. I recommend a high-end restaurant like the Cutting Board.

Register of Deeds Makes a Point
Just to make sure the Rockingham County Commissioners understand who has been elected as the Register of Deeds, Rebecca Cipriani has shut down the Register of Deeds web site.
The web site no doubt saved labor in the Register of Deeds office. I used the site on at least three occasions to retrieve information I needed. Shutting down the web site is Cipriani's response to the Commissioners cutting her staff by three employees.
Visitors to the Register of Deeds web site are being directed to contact the County Manager and the Commissioners for an explanation.
Several years ago a citizens committee strongly recommended Register of Deeds staff be reduced in order to bring the office into line with other counties. Cipriani pitched a fit and the Commissioners rolled over and let her dictate county spending.
Rebecca is going to show somebody she is not to be tampered with, She will even shoot herself iin the foot to prove her point.

Greensboro News Continues Takeover
Greensboro News reporter Amanda K. Lehmert is now listed as the Group Editor for the Reidsville Review.
A lot of assholes have held that position. Let's hope Amanda is not one of them.

It Has Begun
Im not sure how long it's been going on, but I've finally found what I knew would eventually happen - Greensboro News reporters have started appearing in the Reidsville Review. Both newspapers are now owned by the same company which is is owned by billionaire Warren Buffet.

A Puff of Wind
This week's Walmart Tasting Feature is a banana flavored yogurt. Not much more can be said.
Walmart was crawling with customers. Wall-to-wall grocery shoppers. I'm not sure how much longer Lowes grocery and the three Food Lions can stand the Walmart competition. It was funny how the Lowes grocery guy said it was a slow day. He blamed the lack of customers on the nice weather. Apparently, the weather doesn't affect Walmart shoppers.
Notable among the Walmart "customers" was a short, stocky guy with a broad chest and short hair. He is always at Walmart hanging out around Subway. We see him every week. He doesn't work at Walmart or Subway, but he's always there. He used to hang out at the BOOKSTORE, reading magazines. Now he lives at Walmart, not shopping, just living.
Every week we run into Barbara Johnson at Lowes grocery. No matter what time we go to Lowes, there's Barbara She's usually at the bacon and bologna cooler. Usually, but not always. The Barbara we're speaking of is the Johnson of funeral home fame.
We also bumped into former County Commissioner David Isley at Lowes. It's a good thing David is no longer a County Commissioner because a puff of wind or the air conditioning in the Commissioners chamber would almost certainly blow him down. He was sad looking. We didn't chat to find out how life is treating him because it would have probably been a tale of extreme woe and David is boring as hell anyway. I'll never understand how the hell he got elected for eight years. Even former City Manager Kelly Almond referred to him as a loser. David once worked for the city of Reidsville and Kelly was his boss..
