The rally was designed to drum up support for Phil Berger and Bert Jones who are both running for state office. It was a shameless show of partisanship. There's nothing either man can do to change things. I especially loved it when the crowd broke into a hymn.
One hundred years ago Rockingham County magistrates were refusing to marry blacks and whites. Mixed marriages were against their religious beliefs. I'm not sure what else to say about this story.
It's a hell of a lot more attention than the Reidsville Review gave the legal decision regarding gay marriage, but if you notice the page address, you'll see it's not actually posted in the Review...it's a Greensboro News story linked to by the Review.
