Poll fraud?

It now looks like you can't even trust a Reidsville Review poll.  Less than 24 hours ago, two people had voted "NO" in this poll about voter id.  Suddenly the total number of votes has leaped upwards while the number of "NO" votes has gone down to one.  How does that happen?  There is no way to un-vote.  Somebody must be jiggling the levers at the Review.

Mabe and Duggar: A matched pair

Keith Mabe

Josh Duggar

From Keith's Facebook page:

My Husband wanted you to know and here this .....We are YOUR friend's ......................This is Dusty McPherson...Just wait until all of you opinionated big mouths make a mistake! I firmly believe it was an honest mistake concerning Zero's DWI. He could've done like the rest of you and kept it a private matter between him and the property owner and hoped that no one found out. Zero's absolute honesty and his desire to be transparent got him into this mess. Jesus Christ put it this way "Before you point out the speck in your brothers eye, you must first get the log out of your own." I hope that all of you who have chosen to publicly disgrace Zero never get crucified by the world's Facebook busy bodies when you make your "honest mistake". Shame on all of you! So much for North Carolina being a hospitable state.

From Today Christian:

The police report says Jim Bob Duggar reported the incident to elders in his church, who suggested a counseling program for Josh.
Josh’s wife, Anna, tells the magazine she was aware of the situation and believes Josh is living according to 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar tell People they hope the revelation of the abuse will cause people to seek God, not turn away.
“We pray that as people watch our lives they see that we are not a perfect family. We have challenges and struggles every day. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much, because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us—even though we are so undeserving. We hope somehow the story of our journey—the good times and the difficult times—cause you to see the kindness of God and learn that He can bring you through anything.”
The incident, however, led to Josh’s salvation.
“I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions,” says Josh. “I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.”

More crime at Walmart

The Reidsville Review doesn't specify the victim of the crime, but I'm willing to bet many, if not all, of this week's crimes were committed at Reidsville's Walmart.
From the Review:
The Reidsville Police Department charged Matthew Dale Sotkes, 35, of 2101 S. Scales St., Reidsville, with shoplifting.
The Reidsville Police Department charged Samantha Roxanne Hanks, 25, of 514 Barnes St., Reidsville, with shoplifting.
The Reidsville Police Department charged Justin Allen Holland, 26, of 3678 Grooms Road, Wilmington, with shoplifting.
The Reidsville Police Department charged Wendy Wilson Evans, 37, of 170 Penny Lane, Reidsville, with shoplifting.
Stealing from Walmart has become a major part of the Rockingham County economy.

A curious fact

Rockingham County's unemployment rate is higher than Caswell County's (and Stokes, Forsyth, and Guilford).

I know the asshole

I'm betting I know the lone asshole who admitted he has sued someone.

A more interesting question would have been "Have you ever sued someone and won?"

Sound familiar?

I swear on a stack of Bibles... Bedford County, Va takes theft a little more seriously than Rockingham County.

NC wins again!

North Carolina has placed in the top ten worst places to retire.  Congrats, Tarheels!

Mayor Festerman returns to power?

Just when you thought it was safe to come out again... Word on the Street is Reidsville's former Mayor James Festerman is considering again serving on the City Council.  Festerman will take Sherry Walker's seat when he returns to power.

Festerman is shown here presenting some sort of award to former Walmart shopper Terresia Scoble.
