The Reidsville Review is looking for a reporter.  This can mean only one thing...somebody is leaving because they are certainly not expanding the staff.  Has anyone heard who is quitting?  Please don't tell me it's Sideways Boy Dallas Britt.

Anytime you see a Reidsville Review poll, like this one relating to concern for the U.S. dollar and markets, and with 125 votes in a matter of minutes, you know the poll is a copy of one at the Greensboro News.  A quick check confirms the Review is too lazy to creates its own poll.

Disgruntled Republican steals campaign signs

I keep getting the strangest emails from Holy Mangus.  The latest one is about a Republican who was charged with stealing campaign signs and then he went berserk and shot up a movie theater in Lafayette, La., klling two people and wounding several others.

I don't know why I am getting these emails...I mean I've never stolen any campaign signs or shot up any movie theaters.  Very strange.

The only Republican I know who was charged with stealing campaign signs is Rockingham County School Board member Ron Price.

A memo to the City Council

I know the Reidsville City Council is very busy, especially with the Confederate Monument vandalism and the Garcia Johnson thing.  I'm afraid they don't have time to see and hear all the news,  So, I sent them a helpful reminder about the latest Eden/Reidsville survey.

Because none of you ever answer your email, it's kinda hard to tell who is active on the internet and who is not.

You may recall Mayor Donecker crowing about how Reidsville has been named one of the finest places to live in NC.  His opinions were guided by a web site called Credit Donkey.  Credit Donkey thought Reidsville was just swell and therefore the Mayor proclaimed Reidsville as the best.

Now it seems there's a web site with a conflicting opinion of Reidsville and Eden.  I wanted to make sure you know about another view of our beloved city.  Eden was picked as #9 and Reidsville came in as #11 out of the worst places to live in the entire state.  

The competition was fierce, but we had a decent showing.  146 NC towns were evaluated.   With the Confederate Monument vandalism and the Garcia Johnson incident, we might can catch Eden in the next survey.

Eden's Sylvia Grogan was so incensed about the ratings that she ordered all Eden residents to avoid the web site and not to discuss the findings.  In case you don't know, Sylvia is deceased Eden Mayor John Grogan's wife.  Mayor Donecker might want to consider issuing a similar edict to Reidsville residents.

Eden and Reidsville have been selected as the 9th and 11th worst cities to live in North Carolina.

146 NC cities were ranked based on population, education, crime, and economics.

It will be interesting to hear Reidsville Mayor Jay Donecker's comments on this finding.  He certainly did a lot of bragging when Creditdonkey picked Reidsville as one of the best places to live

News Flash! County Commissioner busted for DUI...Again

He's going to need all the historical documents he can muster up to get out of this one...a Rockingham County Commissioner is being tested at the hospital for blood alcohol after refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A BIG ONE!  Maybe the Review's Danny will even write a story about it.

REIDSVILLE POLICE CHIEF APOLOGIZES

Unbelievable...Reidsville Police Chief Robert Hassell has apologized for sending two police officers to my house to talk to me about my web site. He didn't answer my question (who put him up to this scheme), but he did apologize. This is far more than I can ever hope to get out of Mayor Jay Donecker who seems rather proud of himself for punishing me and damaging my family. Stay tuned...details about Donecker's involvement in this mess will come out!

No lollygagging

Remember the restaurant that the City of Reidsville invested in?

Well, certainly you remember the Cutting Board, don't you?  This was Tammy Spencer's great find for Reidsville.  Everything Tammy touches turns to gold.  The press was so excited about a new restaurant in Reidsville.  The Review practically peed on itself.

The Cutting Board lasted maybe a year and then folded.

Then The Vault replaced the Cutting Board.  It folded after about a year.

Then came the Heffinger Heist.  I don't think it lasted even a year before folding.

Then Halftime Headquarters opened.  Guess what?  It's now closed and the space is available for rent.  

If only the Mayor had given the Halftime a permit to play billiards in the restaurant in a more timely fashion.  But, sadly pool is not allowed to be played in downtown without a special permit from the City.

This "no pool" rule was adopted by the City of Reidsville when Doug's Pool and Brews began attracting customers that the City considered unsavory.  Doug's was located in the space where Cafe 99 sells sandwiches and bagged potato chips.  Doug's rowdy customers forced him to post a sign that read "NO LOLLYGAGGING" on the front of the store.  Artist Mel Steele reportedly played a part in developing the "NO LOLLYGAGGING" sign. 

I don't recall ever seeing another business, anywhere, with a "NO LOLLYGAGGING" sign. 

The City's new rules for Doug's included an illegal City regulation that forbids the sale of beer and wine for on-premise consumption without a restaurant.  This City rule violates state regulations about alcohol consumption.  Oddly, the City violates its own illegal regulation whenever it sells beer at Market Square.

If you'd like to have a go at running a restaurant, contact the City of Reidsville.  I'm sure they can put you in touch with the right person, but lollygagging will not be tolerated.

Reidsville City Council dodges public records law

I've been getting a lot of requests for Reidsville City Council email addresses.  Council members do not use official Reidsville City addresses, but instead conduct business using their private email addresses.  This will probably sound familiar.  It's the exact same reason Hillary Clinton is being ravaged by Republicans - using her private email address to conduct government business.  Using a government email address should insure all email relating to the city will be protected and preserved.  Our City Council members have chosen not to provide the necessary protection and preservation

1) The city's waste of limited police resources

Justice not so swift or certain

Today is July 8, 2015.

County Commissioner Keith Mabe was arrested for drunk driving on December 13, 2014 and then drug possession.  He has not been tried yet.

One can only wonder why justice, whatever it may be, has not yet been served.

The Reidsville Review is not reporting that County Commissioner Keith Mabe drug case is being continued and his drunk driving case is scheduled to be heard next week (7/14/2015).
